Ancient Forms
I love painting in Southern Utah, USA, especially Moab. The landscape is one of the most spectacular in the world. It is part of the Colorado River drainage system which is what carved the Grand Canyon. Yeas ago, I was lucky enough to live in Moab, when it was still an outer frontier. Now it is a hub for mountain bikes and jeep safaris. This scene was painted in a favorite place above the famous "Slick Rock" bike riding trail. I used to camp here in my old van with my daughter. I was so happy to be able to paint it on a gorgeous day while my son, Foster was riding the trail. It was painted with a palette knife--the best way to capture all the reflected colors of the desert rocks. Available at "The Apple Shed Art Gallery" in Cedaredge CO
